MSN Entertainment and MSN Tech & Gadgets provide up-to-the-minute news, photos, features and opinion on the most talked about topics of the day. The team creates and curates engaging and interactive content using the best mix of editorial and multimedia, and through innovative use of social media tools. As well as quick reaction to news, editors build extensive packages for special events such as awards season and technology product releases. Websters is looking for a full-time Senior Editor to join our vendor team at the MSN offices to lead content deployment across the Entertainment and Tech & Gadgets channels. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker, self-starter and problem solver who will also need the skillset featured below.
Skills and Attributes
- Experience managing a large in-house team (minimum 2 years)
- Experience managing external freelancers and budgets
- Experience working with Sales team to maximise revenue
- Excellent writing and copy editing skills
- Experience running a daily news desk
- Analytical skills/familiarity with web KPIs
- Keen interest in social media and multimedia
- Enthusiasm for using technology and learning new technology tools
- Working knowledge of Photoshop and MS Office
- Journalism qualification – a distinct advantage
- Experience within the Entertainment sector an advantage
Tasks will include
- Editorial quality control, subbing and judgment
- Content planning, execution and production
- Housekeeping across the team
- Managing freelancers and budgets
- Editorial and commercial target tracking across MSN’s key suite of products
- Monitoring competition
- Working with PR department to highlight content in the wider media
- Growing the MSN social media presence
- Daily news updates
